Acentra seeks a Staff Accountant to join our growing team.
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting tasks, preparing financial reports, and creating external reports, such as monthly customer invoices, accurately and on time. This is to support management decision-making and to meet the external reporting requirements of government agencies and external auditors.
*Position is remote within the United States but candidates must be able to work in Eastern time zone.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide accounting support and financial information for projects and departments.
- Review all contract documents and amendments for accuracy, potential impact on accounting matters, and compliance with financial requirements.
- Code accounts payable invoices including account, org and project.
- Prepare contract invoices and deliverables.
- Gather and verify billing data with operations/analytical staff and compare previous months for reasonableness and differences in levels and investigate anomalies.
- Compare billing to contract levels to ensure compliance with funding.
- Analyze actual costs for variances with expectations, trends etc. to identify anomalies.
- Provide analysis and metrics monthly.
- Collect analytical metrics and data for ongoing reporting.
- Report variances to Operations and management.
- Coordinate with Program Finance on program financial matters.
- As applicable, serve as a system administrator for Concur employee reimbursement platform.
- Perform Concur employee training.
- Perform account reconciliations as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or at least four years experience working directly in an accounting position.
- Experience in computerized accounting systems and knowledge of relevant computer technology.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience in cost and governmental accounting preferred.
- Meticulous attention to detail ensures that all tasks are executed with the highest degree of accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office software applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and SharePoint.
- Produce high-quality deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Effectively collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Clear and open communication is essential to successful teamwork.
- Maintain a positive and constructive working environment.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $52,600-$65,000.
“Based on our compensation philosophy, an applicant’s placement in the pay range will depend on various considerations, such as years of applicable experience and skill level.”
