Textum OPCO, LLC is hiring a Technical Sales Engineer for it's Dayton, OH composite manufacturing operation.

We have unique expertise in developing textile solutions for extreme environments that we are leveraging for specialty composite production. The industries that we serve include aerospace, space, defense, energy, and infrastructure. Whether it's thermal protection systems for space vehicles, preforms for CMC components, or preforms and fabrics for carbon-carbon processing, we have the experience and expertise to help ensure our customer's success both as a reinforcement provider and through delivery of finished parts.

We are looking for a qualified Technical Sales Engineer to support technology development and business development activities related to composite part manufacturing. This is an early-career level position. The ideal candidate will have experience working around hot ovens/furnaces and have knowledge of proper chemical handling practices. They will be expected to maintain safety and productivity while working within a quality system, and they will support all aspects of production from supply chain management, to part production, and final delivery. They will spend roughly 50% of their time, hands-on, supporting technical activities. Their remaining time will be supporting outside technical sales functions including but not limited to: attending customer meetings, quote creation, order servicing, post-sale customer service, proposal writing, marketing, tradeshows, and other sales function. The goal is for this individual to be a fully integrated member of both the engineering and business development teams.

This is a full-time, direct hire position with 1st shift hours.

Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of engineering and outside sales tasks, including but not limited to: process documentation, part fabrication, internal and external communication, quote generation, marketing, and trade shows.

  • Generate and prepare prints, work orders, and other documents and communicate them to technicians
  • Train and lead technicians to complete tasks
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
  • Support both production and R&D activities
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • Will need to learn high temperature composite processing including C/C and CMCs
  • Gather information on specific customer needs
  • Respond to information requests and answer questions about products
  • Coordinate/schedule/hold face-to-face and virtual meetings with customers
  • Quoting/Order Taking/ERP entry
  • Trade show coordination
  • Build and maintain customer relationships
  • Travel as needed for meetings
  • Monitor competitors and market conditions

Requirements

  • Applicant must be an exclusive US Citizen
  • Applicant must be willing and able to apply for and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance
  • A Bachelor's degree is required
  • 2-5 years work experience in engineering is a plus
  • 2-5 years work experience with technical sales is a plus
  • Experience working with composite materials is a plus
  • Experience working with high temperature composites such as C/C or CMCs is a significant advantage
  • General mechanical/technical aptitude and good manual dexterity required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment autonomously and under pressure and complete all assigned tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to solve problems using existing procedures to perform straightforward tasks
  • Can work well with others in a diverse group and foster a cooperative work environment
  • Possess a working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools and machinery
  • Candidates will be required to pass a drug test
  • Candidates will be required to pass a background check
