Operations Supervisor

On behalf of our client, McDonald Steel Plate Inc., located in Cleveland, Ohio, Decision Associates is seeking applicants for the position of Operations Supervisor. McDonald Steel Plate is a growing steel plate manufacturing company. Their technically proficient sales and engineering team interpret customer CAD files and drawings to produce accurate parts with quality assurance.  

Working at their Cleveland, Ohio location, the Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shop floor, the warehouse, and inbound/outbound shipping operations in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a background in steel processing, oxy-fuel and plasma burning, and experience in team leadership.  This position will be a key contributor to the successful growth of the company. 

Key Responsibilities  

• Supervise and lead a team of CNC burn table operators, grinders, and truck drivers in a challenging environment
• Coordinate with engineers and sales to plan and execute projects on time and within budget
• Maintain high-quality standards for all products in accordance with ISO 9001
• Maintain and repair burning equipment
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed and provide training & guidance to team members
• Resolve issues or conflicts that arise during the fabrication process
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth project execution
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets industry standards and specifications
• Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.  Technical degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in steel processing as a supervisor or foreman
• Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and supervisory skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Proficient in using and maintaining steel processing tools and equipment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced ISO 9001 environment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
