The Learning & Development Intern is an onsite, paid position that will learn to help with daily functions of the HR department. This role will primarily focus on learning & development responsibilities including e-learning course creation, management of our learning management system, Absorb, and include an aspect of project management as you help to coordinate work with a committee of cross-functional subject matter experts. In addition to L&D, there will be opportunities to work with various areas of HR including compensation, benefits, recruiting and employee relations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create e-learning courses for M/I Homes employees
- Manage administrative tasks within our Learning Management System, Absorb
- Attend all LMS Committee meetings
- Assist with the coordination of course work being done by other Subject Matter Experts
- Assist with the company wide internship program to include planning intern events as well as collecting feedback on the program.
- Update recruiting resources and coordinate with marketing to refresh for career fairs.
- Help maintain employee records in file room.
- Support HR department with various projects as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Qualifications
- Ideal candidate is working toward a Bachelors or Associates degree in Human Resource Management or Business, knowledge and understanding of human resources and business administration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Aptitude for learning new software programs and other applicable technology.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
- Display excellent written and strong oral communication skills
- Adapt to change easily and participate in a group/team environment
- Ability to influence and encourage others
Additional Skills and Abilities
- An interest in learning & development and/or adult learning
- Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills
- Basic design skills relating to presentation layout
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Office environment (full-time or part-time in person, remote not available)
