Job Purpose:
The Gersh Organization is dedicated to changing the lives of children on the autism spectrum.
We are looking to hire a full-time, professional School Administrative Assistant to support the needs of our school located in West Hempstead, NY. Our Office staff serves as the first point of contact for parents, students and staff, and must be able to handle a high volume/high traffic environment with a positive attitude.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with parents, vendors, and school districts.
- Greet and assist visitors with checking in, ensuring that they are covid symptom-free.
- Answer telephone and direct incoming calls to the appropriate party in an efficient manner.
- Handle clerical tasks such as filing (both electronic and physical files), typing, photocopying, making labels, and handling all incoming and outgoing mail.
- Create flyers and newsletters using MS Publisher and MS Word.
- Maintain student attendance and reports in Power School.
- Assist with purchase orders and maintaining finance reports.
- Assist the administrative team with scheduling, event preparation, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Will be responsible to coordinate purchase requests from beginning to end.
- Will collect all related service billing information weekly.
- Makes sure all safety drills are completed monthly and reported.
- Will use PowerSchool for attendance and upkept of all parent and student information.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma (required).
- Administrative and/or customer facing experience (required).
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Outlook – possession of strong calendar management skills.
- Must be organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously; follow through on objectives with a sense of immediacy.
- Professional and friendly demeanor required.
- Ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
- Must be a team player.
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
