Full Job Description
The Director of Social Services under the direction of the Program Director is responsible for ongoing needs assessment, individual service plans, group and individual counseling, referral, and advocacy for participants of Liberty House, a supportive, transitional housing program for women and gender expansive people impacted by the criminal legal system.
The Director of Social Service’s caseload may include both singles and families. The Director or Social Services will offer specialized services focused on addressing the complex issues of trauma, mental illness, addiction, gender-based violence, family reunification, positive parenting and family interaction.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and supervises the case management team.
- Oversees all clinical provisions of the program for participants, including but not limited to case work, service plans,
- housing applications, incident reporting, substance abuse counseling/referrals, and other activities.
- Oversees quality improvement functions including, but not limited to, case record review, service plan review etc.
- Assess and coordinate case management staff training needs.
- Complete psychosocial assessments.
- Facilitate group sessions and develop curriculum for support groups and special supportive projects such as a harm
- reduction group.
- Provide back up administrative coverage in the absence of the program director.
- Provide ongoing supervision to case management team.
- Maintain ongoing contact with ATI, public defenders, and other community agencies concerning each resident’s
- progress, and participate in regular community meetings with providers as scheduled.
- Responsible for researching, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with community resources and partners that
- provide high-quality services to residents. Provide ongoing evaluation of services and partners.
- Monitors and ensures the accuracy of employee timekeeping and the Paylocity system.
- Oversee the Case Management schedule and duties, and provide direct supervision.
- Participate in and co-facilitate case conferencing as part of a team, to support and plan for all residents.
- Provides supervisory oversight and training to case management team.
- Attend program meetings, agency-wide meetings, and staff training.
- Monitors documentation for quality and timely completion.
- Monitors service plans and ensure they are completed with 30 days of intake and updated every 90 days thereafter.
- Provide administrative back up to Program Director, including on-call responsibilities.
- Knowledge of AWARDS.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- LMSW/LCSW/LMHC required.
- 4 years of case work experience, preferably working with women with homeless histories, behavioral health needs, and/or criminal legal history. Preferable work experience with families and children.
- Meaningful commitment to and understanding of housing first, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.
- High level of self-awareness and ability to give and receive feedback well.
- Excellent judgement and ability to handle crises effectively.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Experience facilitating groups highly preferred.
- Experience with conflict resolution and mediation preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Competent technology & management skills, including proficiency with using Microsoft Office; and client database management systems.
- People directly impacted by the criminal legal system highly encouraged to apply.
