About the Role:
Our Client is a small boutique law firm located in Oceanside, NY is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing administrative and clerical support within a legal environment. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with attorneys and clients in a collaborative and dynamic setting.
Responsibilities:
· Provide high-level administrative support to attorneys and legal staff.
· Manage and organize legal documents, correspondence, and filings.
· Draft and proofread legal documents, including letters, memos, and briefs.
· Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
· Maintain electronic and physical filing systems in accordance with firm protocols.
· Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, court personnel, and other parties.
· Conduct legal research and gather relevant information as needed.
· Assist with case management tasks, including docketing deadlines and updating case files.
· Handle incoming calls, emails, and inquiries, and route them accordingly.
· Assist, Track and notate accounting systems for billing and invoicing processes as required.
· Provide customer support and service and maintain customer relations as required.
· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive information.
· Perform other administrative duties and projects as assigned by attorneys and management.
Requirements
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience preferred.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role within a law firm setting.
· Must have a great attitude, be able to work independently and with others, be flexible and have strong written and communication skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
· Professional demeanor and client-focused attitude.
· Knowledge of New York State legal procedures and regulations is a plus.
