Full Job Description
AAC (Advanced Automation Corporation) is seeking a Junior Instructional Designer and Technologist who will contribute to the creation and implementation of learning and practicing experiences for the DLIFLC Foreign Area Officers (FAO) Language Program.
Responsibilities
- Course Development: Uphold the instructional integrity and educational effectiveness of all training materials. Ensure designs reflect the latest in adult learning theories, communicative foreign language methodologies, and learner-centric strategies.
- Collaborative Design: Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and team members to create engaging and purposeful advanced foreign language learning activities, including storyboards for complex level branching scenarios and intrinsic feedback loops. Design and develop new learner activities and exercises including technical training methods into approved training concepts.
- Innovative eLearning Practices: Implement effective eLearning techniques focused on maximizing learner engagement and knowledge transfer, such as simulations, practical exercises, and scenario-based assessments during the storyboarding process. Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product. Communicate activity flow within the IMI package to the developer team.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in instructional design tasks within a multicultural, remote team environment. Communicate effectively, adhering to the nuances of an Army training culture.
- Technology Integration: Utilize technology-based workflow resources such as MS Teams, SharePoint, and Monday.com to maintain efficient collaboration and communication with team members.
Requirements
- Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in instructional design, including eLearning development for IMI Level 2-3 content.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Design Technology, or a closely related field. A background in Applied Linguistics or foreign language learning methodology is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of the ADDIE model for instructional design. Experience with high-level storyboard creation. Experience with adult learning theory implementation.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and work within a diverse, cross-cultural environment.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, flexible work setting where priorities and deadlines are subject to change. Able to find opportunities, take initiative and think through future implications.
- Clearances: Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a government security clearance.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Specialized Experience: Background in designing distributed learning content for the Army or Army University, especially interactive instructional multimedia and game-based design.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Chinese Mandarin, Korean, Russian.
