Full Job Description

This posting is for a hybrid Harvester/Tour Guide position

As a member of the Harvest team you are at the very heart of our operation. Your job is to harvest/trim/plant herbs, edible flowers, and garnish for the very best restaurants in NYC.

This is a fast paced and physical job. You must be willing and able to perform quickly and accurately, and work hard.

Your day will start at 8 am. You will be focused on harvesting to a Michelin Star quality standard. Your shift will last until noon. The job can be repetitive, we are looking for someone with an eye for detail and a love for monotony.  We are looking for someone who shows up to work on time every single day to tackle tasks with humility. The kind of person who brings curiosity to everything they do. Someone who sees a task and thinks of the ways it can be improved upon.

You’re gritty and resourceful.

You’re adaptable and mentally agile.

You’re curious and crave new challenges.

You love working as a part of a close-knit team.

You’re not afraid of making (and learning from) mistakes.

You root for your teammates and celebrate their successes.

You abhor slacking off and are always looking for ways to improve.

Hourly pay range estimated at $22.00 to $24.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include:

  • Harvesting herbs and leafy vegetables.
  • Following protocols related to food safety, specific plant propagation techniques, and data collection.
  • Using a tablet with simple database software.
  • Cleaning and sanitation of grow room, and equipment.
  • Assisting in the organization of supplies and inventory.

Once to twice a week, you will apply your experience and knowledge from the farm to running hour-long tours of our facility. As tour guide, you are a liaison between our farm and the public, acting as an ambassador for our company and mission. The key responsibilities for the tour guide are as follows:

  • Learn all about Farm. One, our plants, who we are and why we do what we do
  • Run the tours:
    • Clean and prepare our tour area before and after each tour
    • Welcome guests and serve as their primary point of contact upon entering the building
    • Guide the guests on our hour-long tour, including a 30-min tasting portion
    • Understand the technology used in our Farm and be able to describe it to someone who has no background in Hydroponic Indoor Farming
    • Be knowledgeable about the basic properties and flavor profiles of over 30 different rare herbs, microgreens, and edible flowers
    • Conduct tasting demonstrations and discuss flavor profiles and potential culinary uses
  • Start and end the tour on time, every time
  • Follow the prescribed tour format in order to deliver a consistently strong product

The standard tour shift would be:

  • Friday, 6-8pm
