Duties
We are looking for an Accounting Manager to perform essential financial tasks for the organization.
Including working closely with accounts payable staff and grant/ contract billing personnel. The
Accounting Manager will be responsible to maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, including
managing funder’s assigned cost centers. This position will be responsible for timely recording of
financial activities, financial compliance, program reporting, and maintaining adequate finance related
documentation. The position will supervise Accounts Payable staff and functions; and assist with
supervising grant manager. This position will also assist with allocation of expenses, including personnel
& fringe benefits costs, insurance allocation, and other OTPS. Work with Development department to
generate budgets for Foundation grants and maintain reporting for same. The Accounting position will
be responsible for general ledger account review and maintenance, recording journal entries,
maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPI), including aged accounts receivable schedules. The
position will maintain cash flow report, bank statements vs general ledger, and monitor credit/debit
cards. This position will be a liaison with auditors and assist/facilitate with all financial audits, including
annual fiscal audits and workers’ compensation file reviews. And other tasks as assigned within the
finance department.
HousingPlus’s government contract portfolio consists of: Federal (HUD), State (OTDA and OASAS), NYC
MOC-J, and NYC DOHMH.
Supervisor:
This position reports to the Director of Finance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data.
- Minimum five years of accounting experience.
- Experience with financial management software; QuickBooks preferred.
- Proven, solid software skills and experience with automated accounting systems preferred.
- Highly organized, proven problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
- Detail and deadline-oriented self-starter.
- Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
