The Sr. IT Program Manager, Pharma 4.0 position has responsibility for strategic technical leadership within the IT manufacturing department and supports the continued development / execution of the client's Pharma 4.0 initiatives which drives the company’s overall digital transformation. As a member of the Pharma Services Group, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and implement site-specific digital Pharma 4.0 IT initiatives that provide key system functionality that will be used to optimize operational efficiency. This IT position will work closely with other IT functions such as PMO, applications, CIS infrastructure and cybersecurity teams. In addition to driving efficiency and effectiveness of PSG projects it will support strategic business goals and objectives, as well as leverage continuous improvement tools to improve the system integration processes. This position will oversee medium to large projects, or in some cases multiple small to medium projects, typically at the divisional unit level. Program Management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time, within budget, and within scope. It will oversee all aspects of the program, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor / summarize progress, prepare and present reports for senior management and steering committees regarding the status and health of the program.
The successful candidate will work directly with Business and Division-level executives, and in some cases Group level management to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments (e.g. Shared Services functions) to ensure all aspects of each project are aligned to the appropriate technical strategy.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Manage strategic and technical leadership Pharma 4.0 IT activities in the areas of digital transformation within pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, coordinate digital solutions, and creation of methodologies and use case strategies including operational readiness processes/tools, user training and capability reference architectures to further develop our global Pharma 4.0 strategy
- Develop and implement digital technology Pharma 4.0 IT systems across the global technical infrastructure in partnership with Corporate, Division and site teams to meet Pharma 4.0 IT goals and targets with identified timelines
- Conduct PSG IT Program Management, and successfully lead, large and complex infrastructure architectures that support Pharma 4.0 IT initiatives
- Ensure program milestones and targets are met by actively managing projects on a day-to-day basis through appropriate resource, issue, and risk management
- Assist and lead engagement processes with the manufacturing sites for the development of business requirements, solution designs & delivery, testing and training development programs
- Adhere to defined program management framework and corporate processes to effectively carry out programs while ensuring compliance with all deliverables and stage gate reviews
- Maintain relevant metrics related to Pharma 4.0 Program activities and submit updates in accordance with required procedures. Provide status updates to the respective Steering Committees
- Obtain business justification, establish executive alignment, plan, and execute transformative PSG Pharma 4.0 IT programs/projects as the technical leader
- Proactively cultivate and maintain strong functional relationships with partner teams
- Stay informed about innovations within the Pharma 4.0 / digital technologies transformation industry by actively participating in industry forums such as BioPhorum, ISPE Pharma 4.0, MESA, etc. Offer guidance, mentorship, and support to internal collaborators to keep them informed about key technological and regulatory advancements
- Manage financial budgets in alignment with Annual Operating plan targets
- Regularly present to leadership on key program performance indicators (KPI)
- Identify and implement projects to drive practical process improvement (PPI/Lean) that demonstrate return on investment and value of PSG program(s)
- Ensure identification, management, automation, and regular tracking of program metrics
- Establish processes to demonstrate return on investment for PSG programs
Tactical Responsibilities
- Assist in PMO Management activities and tasks related to strategic roadmap projects and programs
- Conduct PMD (Performance Management & Development) evaluations of staff when needed
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
- Lead the detailed planning and management of projects through to completion
- Continuously improve processes, tasks, and milestones using feedback and lessons learned as input into existing or future project plans, i.e. follow SDLC process for project execution
- Escalate, explain, and offer proactive solutions when risks/issues to projects are causing failure or inability to complete on time or budget
- Conduct project closeouts and create recommendations reports to identify successful and unsuccessful program elements as part of the lessons learned process
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of programs
- Facilitate the definition of scope/objectives involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Ensure resource availability, allocation; develop a detailed project plan, and monitor progress
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification and governance techniques
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
- Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Where applicable, meet with customers to understand specific requirements of each project
- Delegate project tasks based on team members’ strengths, skill sets and experience levels
- Track project performance to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering or Project Management
- 10+ years of experience managing Manufacturing IT projects and relevant technical experience (E.g. Manufacturing Execution Systems, preferred Rockwell Automation PharmaSuite, Computer Maintenance Management Systems, Serialization Systems, IIot Infrastructure systems, etc…)
- 5+ years of work experience in healthcare (e.g. Biotech, Pharma, Medical Equipment, etc.)
- Experience in implementation of digital transformation projects and use of digital tools including data connectivity, analytics, and visualizations
- Expert experience in running large complex programs with experience in delivery of successful enterprise level IT programs
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or AGILE/SCRUM certification is a plus
- Experience in data science, data engineering is recommended
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Pharma 4.0 digital maturity models and systems
- Advanced knowledge in creating and maintaining management level program plans
- Understanding of pharmaceutical operations (E.g. OSD, steriles, biologics, API, viral vectors.)
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail, time management and multitasking skills
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and excellent documentation skills
- Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
- Strong inspiring people leader with track record of performance and team members through sophisticated projects and operational change initiatives with many deliverables across multiple manufacturing sites
- Ability to support development of a companywide operational performance and quality management with a robust measurement framework system
- High energy with strong self-motivation. Must be able to work independently with guidance from leadership and mentorship from senior team members
- Ability to travel up to 30% annually
