Full Job Description
The Personal Lines Underwriting Associate is responsible for the preliminary review of all lines of business (auto, home, and umbrella) and effectively verifying that policies are issued in accordance with established underwriting guidelines. Underwriting Associates also assist underwriters with specific needs related to policies, procedures, and system training issues.
Responsibilities
- Preliminary review and approval, within guidelines/authority levels, of new business applications, renewals, maintenance underwriting, change requests, correspondence, and policy reports
- Review and evaluate rating accuracy and coverage acceptability of all lines of business
- Develop a strong working knowledge of manual rules and policy conditions and endorsements
- Provide technical/rating assistance and support to agency staff in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts
- Contribute in a team setting including underwriter assistance and support
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or other post-secondary education preferred, but not required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other software and systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks
