The Position
Alene Candles is looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working Manufacturing Analyst to join our growing Finance department and company. Alene Candles is a multi-site, medium-sized manufacturing services company in the home, beauty and fragrance industry. You will support the Cost Accounting function in our three facilities. This role is located in our New Hampshire plant but will also serve our Ohio plants, both on site and remotely. The position reports directly to our Senior Cost Analyst (located in New Hampshire) and will work collaboratively within Finance and cross functionally with Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, Business Development and IT.
You will support the standard costing process of developing, refining, and analyzing the labor, materials and overhead standard costs in our ERP system (IFS). The Manufacturing Analyst will also be focused on ensuring the accuracy of our job costing reports and product costing for pricing approval. Focus on job costing reports will require ensuring item masters and BOMs are complete, accurate and are driving correct material costs into the reporting.
We are seeking a high energy, self-starting, collaborative team member with experience in manufacturing analysis/cost accounting, that will help this fast-paced company successfully grow to the next level.
The Location
We are located at 51 Scarborough Lane, Milford, NH. This is a hybrid position. After training, the ability to work from home will be determined by the employee's supervisor. This role will also require 5% travel to our Ohio facilities as needed.
Additional Job Details
- Maintain Cost Accounting processes to establish costs for new products and review/analyze costs of existing products; includes data input and control in ERP System (IFS)
- Work collaboratively with manufacturing, procurement and engineering teams to develop and maintain accurate standard costs
- Ensure cost integrity of inventory items through correct forms and accurate entry in ERP System (IFS)
- Review Item Master (raw materials and finished goods) and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Monitor manufacturing labor and material variances; work closely with plant managers on recommendations for improvement
- Produce weekly variance reports; identify issues and trends; investigate exceptions to understand root causes; recommend changes and enhancements
- Work to enhance report efficiency and expand report automation
- Measure and report standard cost variances, identify trends and exceptions and recommend actions to key players
- Support month-end deliverables to include reporting, variance analysis and reconciliation of cost of goods sold accounts; prepare month-end journal entries
- Participate in preparation and execution of scheduled standard cost updates in ERP System (IFS)
- Assist with annual physical inventory audits
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting, Business, or Supply Chain.
- 2+ years experience in finance or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity and comfort with ERP platforms.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel 5% the time as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience or exposure to cost accounting is highly desired.
- Previous experience with IFS a plus.
- Highly detail oriented, organized, multi-tasker.
- Problem solver with strong analytical skills.
- Hands-on: not afraid to roll up your sleeves and dig into the data.
- Ability to execute tasks independently and meet assigned deadlines in a timely manner.
- Efficient communicator; adaptable to collaborating across departments and functions.
- Comfort with data mining and manipulation.
- An inquisitive nature: the desire and tenacity to search for answers and offer solutions.
