The finance and accounting organization they will lead is approximately 30 people. Experience in CPG is highly desirable, but the company is open to candidates from similar industries that sell their products through the Food, Drug, Club, and Mass Merchant channels. Previous roles that would qualify a candidate could be; CFO of a Midsized CPG company, Divisional CFO of a larger company, or VP of Finance in those sectors…a must!
Early experience with a Big 4 or a highly regarded public accounting firm is also desirable. This is an operating CFO role that will be hands on working everyday with the operations and sales group. The company is growing, profitable, and will continue on that path. They are NOT seeking to sell the company or do any substantial M&A.
Requirements
• Knows how, and is committed, to continually improve the capabilities of financial function... from good to better to best... within the context of supporting the tactical requirements and strategic objectives of the company.
• Provides financial leadership and stewardship with an open and transparent leadership style to ensure that all aspects of the financial function are operating efficiently and effectively serving their various constituencies.
• Addresses effectively and efficiently the role’s principal operational responsibilities including oversight of internal audit and controls, accounting processes, financial reporting, financial/enterprise risk management & insurance, budgeting/forecasting, decision support, cost structure/cash flow improvements, and retirement plan investments.
• Ensures the Finance team meets its commitments to support daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and administration processes...On time and accurately.
• Facilitates organizational financial accountability and responsibility while acting as a strategic sounding board for the CEO and executive leadership team.
• Monitors and directs the implementation of operational business plans from a financial and metrics perspective. Holds organization accountable to agreed upon the plans/goals/commitments.
• Leads the monthly board reporting processes and analysis and related committee work on a regular basis.
• Oversees the development of financial models and scenario planning to support future business initiatives.
• Leads the annual business planning process including being responsible for collaborating with the executive leadership... and, in alignment with, and consideration of, all relevant external relevant stakeholders.
• Develops long-range financial plans inclusive of revenue targets, operating profit, EBITDA, and capital requirements. Taking into account changes derived from inevitable strategic and business challenges and opportunities, the CFO regularly will assess and adjust the financial requirements and their impact on ability to meet its priorities.
• Leads and assists in managing the annual financial audit process.
• Ensures that company follows proper banking and treasury procedures with the responsibility for managing the relationship with its financial institutions, securing short and loan term requirements, as necessary.
• Selects and engages with auditors.
• Collaborates with HR to ensure that the company is fully legally compliant.
• Manages and maintains a broad range of internal and external stakeholders – building effective and trusted relationships.
