Job Title: Senior Accountant (Hybrid Remote Position - 3 days in office and 2 days remote)
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Salary: $80-90K
Job Summary of the Senior Accountant: The Senior Accountant will assist with corporate accounting operations, execute standard cost and inventory control processes, perform month-end close duties, support the financial reporting process, implement essential business controls, and assist with ad hoc queries.
Qualifications of the Senior Accountant:
- Perform assigned month-end close duties including, but not limited to, calculating accruals, entering journal entries, and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile bank accounts through journal entries and coordination with accounts receivable team members to maintain the accuracy of related account balances.
- Partner with Controller on integration of businesses into XA general ledger.
- Partner with Controller to maintain XA general ledger and chart of accounts.
- Construction in progress and fixed asset capitalization activity.
- Calculation of monthly sales representative commissions.
- Performance of specialized accounting duties for Canadian operations.
- F9 report generation, review, and analysis.
- Support of annual physical inventory activity.
- Coordinate with the corporate tax team to provide tax-related financial information on a timely basis.
- Assist with annual financial audit and interim audit procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of internal controls including evaluating, recommending, maintaining, and monitoring appropriate internal controls.
- Participate in system enhancements and integration efforts throughout the organization.
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders in responding to inquiries or Powerlink financial data reporting and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Consistently support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Identify accounting issues, research possible solutions, and forms conclusions to present to the supervisor.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (GL, reporting, costing, public accounting)
- Public accounting experience
- Manufacturing/assembly/ distribution background
- Infor XA system experience a plus
- OneStream experience a plus
- Sage experience a plus
- CPA is a plus, but not required
- Month-end close experience
- Audit experience
- Month end and year experience experience a plus
- Balance sheet reconciliation preparation
- Experience creating and posting journal entries
- Working knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems
- Ability to work in fast-paced, changing and growing environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to execute tasks independently and meet assigned deadlines
- Advanced understanding of chart of accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Possess strategic thinking and problem-solving skills and experience
Requirements
- Successful incumbents will have:
- College degree in accounting
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, CPA preferred
- Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions
- Ability to function effectively while meeting deadlines
- Strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows environment and have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Applications
- Familiarity with SAP systems is a plus
