Job Summary: Under the direction of the Program Director, Financial Opportunity Programs, this position supports the department programming needs. Responsibilities include supporting participant eligibility screening, scheduling appointments and application support. Providing information to participants and community, including referrals as need, to other resources. Responsibilities include data entry, scheduling, mailings, scanning files into databases, spreadsheet tracking and preparation of client files and program materials.
Essential Functions (Not All Inclusive):
- Creates a welcoming environment, engaging participants, community members and staff in a friendly, respectful and positive manner.
- Supports department by providing program information to participants and the community.
- Manages incoming calls, returns messages in a timely manner and oversees lobby during business hours.
- Screens participants for eligibility, schedules appointments and provides internal and external referrals as needed.
- Supports participants by assuring they have relevant applications and other required documentation prior to scheduling appointments.
- Supports program operations by assisting with mailings, documentation and preparation of materials and reminder calls.
- Logs referrals into client database and assist in participant data entry as needed.
- Prepares participant files for archiving and scans files into Laserfische.
- Coordinates supply ordering and replenishment, ensuring common space and storage room remains organized and presentable.
- Assists staff and program services as requested.
- Attend staff meetings, other meetings, workshops and training sessions when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years’ experience interacting with and assisting a diverse group of people.
- Experience with non-profit agencies and social service resources preferred.
- Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, organizational skills, both analytical and problem solving, and the ability to work with confidential documents.
- Ability to effectively relate and communicate to people of varying multi-ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Experience working in a non-profit organization or with low-income needs preferred.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Data entry or experience working with database and software applications.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and mail merges preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), email, and internet use.
Benefits
Department: Financial Opportunity Programs
Salary: $19.27/ Hour - $21.20/Hour
Schedule: M-F, 40 Hours/Week
