Full Job Description

Join our Hardware team at Canopy and take charge of testing and validating our entire product stack. As senior testing engineer, the primary focus will be on hardware testing and validation activities across all development phases for Canopy products. This role involves collaborating with teams to create test plans, procedures, and execution strategies while diving deep into hardware issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Hardware team testing efforts across the entire stack, primarily focused on hardware testing and validation activities at each development phase for all Canopy products.
  • Assist in coordinating the creation of test plans, test procedures, and define execution strategies.
  • Deep dive into hardware bugs/issues — working with teams and suppliers to understand root cause with the goal of developing interim and permanent corrective actions, feedback lessons learned into key documentation.
  • Advocate for and implement testing best practices, continuously improving through innovation and iteration.
  • Support feasibility testing for new technologies and features for potential future products.
  • Build out test rigs to undertake controlled environment testing at our US headquarters in Detroit or any other identified testing facilities in the Metro Detroit/Dearborn area.
  • Communicate and document test results and strategies effectively.
  • Work and collaborate effectively in a global dynamic team environment.

Location:

This role requires working from Canopy headquarter in Detroit and various testing facilities in the Metro Detroit/Dearborn area. Candidates should be prepared to work onsite testing and collaboration within this geographical area on a weekly basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a quality or hardware engineering role.
  • 2+ years of experience using testing frameworks and methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of testing sensors and hardware peripherals.
  • Hands-on experience building test rigs and running test procedures with product hardware.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to test vehicles as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of AWS services and continuous deployment pipelines using GitLab
  • Hands-on experience in testing Linux-based devices
  • Solid understanding of QA tool development chains and environments
  • Experience with multiple types of testing, such as regression, performance, stress, end-to-end, integration, and security testing
  • Working knowledge of quality processes (8D, six sigma, change management, DFMEA)
  • Good understanding of serial communication methods
  • Working knowledge of automotive vehicles
  • Experience using project management tools (Jira, Zephyr, Asana)
  • Previous experience working at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.

Compensation Range

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Base Salary: $96,000.00 - $135,000.00 USD
