Project Accountant
Office Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504
Position Classification: Full-Time Regular
Rockford Construction is looking for a Project Accountant to perform accounting tasks for the maintenance and processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions for assigned construction projects and manage special projects. You will work closely with the Rockford Construction management team to execute company objectives. Some daily tasks include working with the project team to create owner pay applications, processing trade contractor payments, and collecting and reviewing lien waivers and sworn statements.
The ideal candidate is reliable, has an analytical mentality, is astute with numbers, has a sharp business acumen and communicates effectively. Working with multiple levels of management, project owners, subcontractors, vendors and various departments is key to this position. What Will I Do?
- Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Assemble monthly owner pay applications.
- Adjust project budgets.
- Serve as contact for Accounts Payable and Receivable problem payables.
- Collect receivable and track payments.
- Enter invoices into accounting software prior to approval being obtained.
- Review sworn statements and tiered lien waivers from subcontractors.
- Monitor projects underbilling status.
- Investigate invoices on hold issues.
- Cut checks using accounting software.
- Create Contracts, Purchase Orders, Change Orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree in accounting or minimum three years of project accounting experience. Bachelors preferred.
- Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
- Must possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skill.
- Have a working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Accounting software knowledge required. Timberline experience preferred.
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
