Full Job Description
Candidates MUST be currently local at time of submission within a commutable distance (1-1.5 hours) Position is hybrid onsite 2 days a week from day 1 (currently Wednesday and Thursday). NO REMOTE ONLY OPTION.
As an application developer, the employee performs a complete range of information system programmer/analyst assignments including, but not limited to, designing, developing, testing, and implementing computer systems and applications for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
This position serves as a SharePoint developer for the Data, Analytics, & Visualizations Division. The employee will participate in a variety of assignments that provide for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the division’s SharePoint sites.
Individual tasks:
· Participate in project review meetings and project workgroups.
· Design and document IT solutions that are State of Michigan standard technology.
· Design solutions for a specific application need.
· Develop software code based on design.
· Code to Standards and Best Practices
· Create, update, and maintain systems’ and IT programs’ documentation, including system specs and flow diagrams.
· Monitor status and progress of the team’s work requests and help desk tickets.
· Maintain consistent availability (excepting breaks and lunch) to the clients/customers (e.g. e-mail and TEAMS) during client working hours.
- Test the system and associated design to ensure compliance with the business rules which govern the system.
- Maintain and upgrade systems because of tool/environment upgrades.
· Provide defect tracking log entry information.
- Document identified problems and analyze to determine root cause and provide root cause analysis.
- Produce Local Change Board documents.
- Follow change management procedures and provide input to execute change management.
- Work with vendors who provide IT solutions.
- Represent DTMB as a technical resource at meetings.
· Work with other DTMB team members when tasks call for a cross-team solution.
- Perform assigned tasks for internal/external security and standards review and development.
- Identify potential impacts of changes.
· Research, test, and recommend new development tools, languages, upgrades, and equipment as directed by senior team members.
· Apply State of Michigan systems development life cycle and Agile development methodologies to support SharePoint and application development and maintenance.
· While meeting with staff and users, assist with requirements gathering and documentation for SharePoint sites.
· Working with the business client/Business Analyst/tech leads creating test scenarios. Design and develop test plans.
· Assist in documenting testing results for applications.
· Provide SharePoint training and assistance to division staff as needed.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Experience with SharePoint 4+ years.
· Knowledge and/or experience in systems development life cycle and gathering business requirements.
· Ability to communicate effectively using both verbal, non-verbal and written methods.
· Ability to communicate technical terminology at a level appropriate to the audience.
· Ability to effectively work independently or with a software development team, make decisions related to assigned tasks, analyze business requirements, create design specifications, and construct and test SharePoint sites.
· Ability to apply time management skills to workload.
· Ability to provide quality customer service, build trust through integrity of work, and build strategic relationships through teamwork are required.
· Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and conduct correspondence related to the work.
· Working knowledge of MS Office 365 Suite.
· Knowledge and/or experience in Azure DevOps, Power BI, Business Objects, Tableau, SQL, or Linux is desirable, but not required.
