About Us: Mayfair Cooperative Preschool is a nurturing, play based, community-focused preschool dedicated to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for young children. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Program Director and Lead Teacher for our vibrant parent/tot, 3 year old, and 4 year old programs. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a stimulating, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children’s curiosity and supports their social, emotional, and cognitive development. You will work closely with other educators, parents, and children to ensure a positive and enriching preschool experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all children feel valued and respected.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote learning and development.
- Observe and assess each child’s progress and development, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Collaborate with our parent-led board to design innovative classroom activities and initiatives
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child’s progress and classroom activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Support community outreach events and preschool social and fundraising activities, strengthening our ties with the broader community
- Uphold licensing requirements and maintain accurate records as dictated by LARA
Schedule:
- Expected hours: Monday-Friday, 20-30 hours per week
- Four-Year-Old Program: Monday/Wednesday: 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM, Friday: 9:30 AM - 11:55 AM
- Three-Year-Old Program: Tuesday/Thursday: 9:30 AM - 11:55 AM
- Parent-Tot Program: Tuesday 2-3:30 PM
- Paid planning time provided before and after class.
- In class programs run September-May, following the Farmington Hills Public School calendar for holidays and breaks
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Child Development Associate or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required.
- Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or early childhood setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with parents and our parent-led board of directors.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
