About Us: Mayfair Cooperative Preschool is a nurturing, play based, community-focused preschool dedicated to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for young children. As a cooperative preschool, we value collaboration and parent involvement to foster a strong, connected community. Our mission is to create a joyful, educational experience that promotes the development of the whole child.

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Program Director and Lead Teacher for our vibrant parent/tot, 3 year old, and 4 year old programs. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a stimulating, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children’s curiosity and supports their social, emotional, and cognitive development. You will work closely with other educators, parents, and children to ensure a positive and enriching preschool experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all children feel valued and respected.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote learning and development.
  • Observe and assess each child’s progress and development, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with our parent-led board to design innovative classroom activities and initiatives
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child’s progress and classroom activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Support community outreach events and preschool social and fundraising activities, strengthening our ties with the broader community
  • Uphold licensing requirements and maintain accurate records as dictated by LARA

Schedule:

  • Expected hours: Monday-Friday, 20-30 hours per week
  • Four-Year-Old Program: Monday/Wednesday: 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM, Friday: 9:30 AM - 11:55 AM
  • Three-Year-Old Program: Tuesday/Thursday: 9:30 AM - 11:55 AM
  • Parent-Tot Program: Tuesday 2-3:30 PM
  • Paid planning time provided before and after class.
  • In class programs run September-May, following the Farmington Hills Public School calendar for holidays and breaks

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Child Development Associate or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or early childhood setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents and our parent-led board of directors.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
