Full Job Description

Our partner is looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer in Plymouth, MI. This is a full-service financial institution serving Michigan residents, recognized for its outstanding work environment and culture. This position is exclusively for outside sales, focusing on the origination of residential first mortgages through an external referral network.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on the Member Engagement Manifesto to ensure an exceptional member experience throughout the mortgage journey.
  • Develop self-generating referral networks to achieve sales goals and meet monthly closed loan and deposit expectations.
  • Complete mortgage loan applications online, over-the-phone, or in-person.
  • Communicate and set expectations with members regarding needed information for the application process.
  • Pull tri-merge credit reports to ensure program eligibility based on credit history and FICO scores.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in residential mortgage lending.
  • Valid Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration.
  • Knowledge of mortgage industry practices and programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain referral partnerships.
  • Sales-centric, goal-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Proficient in handling difficult customer conversations.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Office and databases.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Adaptability and quick learning ability.
  • High level of personal accountability and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency with lead generation and meeting self-generated origination sales goals.
  • Proficient with Encompass.
  • Experience with originating equity loans/lines.
  • Experience in gathering deposits.
  • Specialty product experience like construction, FHA, VA, etc.
