Purpose of the Position

The  AD/TS (Application Development / Technical Service) Engineer's position has a dual role consisting of developing new applications at existing accounts and being the technical interface with customers processing Envalior’s engineering polymers. This position supports initial molding trials, troubleshooting new tools or processing issues at key customers. Within their Application Development role, this position serves to identify, manage and support new applications for Envalior’s polymers at existing and target customers.  

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the successful closing of new business through the participation at customers initial molding trials, and when possible provide guidance to good design practices for new tools.
  • Address and solve processing inquiries coming directly from customers, or through the ADTS, Sales or R&D team members.
  • Identify, pursue, and gain projects at current and potential customers. Provide customers with technical information about Envalior product offering as well as the processing recommendations and uses of these products.
  • Manage ongoing projects through CRM, for Visit Reports, Sample request, Color matches, etc. Participate in global Innovation Segments, trainings and other internal collaboration teams.

Impact of Position

  • This position serves as a key role in the organization since it provides processing support (ie injection molding and/or extrusion) through troubleshooting and close collaboration with customer's production personnel. This position is key to obtaining market and competitive intelligence to identify new applications at existing and new customers. The person within this role will communicates technical and processing information across the various groups, from R&D, ADTS, Technical Product Management to Sales.

Challenges

  • Thorough knowledge of Envalior’s products offerings and target applications.
  • High pressure situation during customer visits due to troubleshooting.
  • Complex processing and equipment at customer's location.
  • 50 % traveling within the US, many times last minute due to ongoing customer issues.
  • Occasional travel to Canada.
  • High degree of self-organization needed.
  • Application Development experience for engineering resins.
  • Familiarity with processing techniques for polymers (injection molding and/or extrusion), tool design, injection molding equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s of Science degree preferred, preferably in Polymers, Plastic Technology or related field with 5 to 10 years experience. Or strong technical background with injection molding (or extrusion) processing knowledge
