Full Job Description
As the Director of Business Development, you will play a critical role in advancing the company’s strategic objectives by identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities with both corporate and government clients. You will be responsible for building and maintaining new client relationships, ultimately driving top-line revenue growth for the company. The ideal candidate will have a proven commercial track record, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the energy, buildings, and/or transportation sectors.
Responsibilities
● Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives. Identify new corporate and government grant opportunities to drive near-term and long term revenue, leveraging your own and ADL’s existing relationships.
● Generate, and cultivate a funnel of new leads aligned with support of the company’s marketing resources.
● Lead the development of proposals to secure new contracts and partnerships. Collaborate with staff and senior management to ensure alignment with the company’s internal capabilities and resources.
● Lead the commercial negotiation of new contracts with support of the company’s executive team.
● Maintain strong relationships with current clients, resulting in happy customers and follow-on scopes of work.
● Work closely with the various ADL practice areas to help shape marketing outputs and project delivery capabilities.
● Keep up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the energy, buildings and transportation industries.
● Oversee the use of the company’s CRM system ensuring it is the source of truth for pipeline, enabling robust and real time reporting to company management.
Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred
● 7+ experience in a business development, sales or customer-facing role. A proven track record of success identifying and closing new deals.
● Prior commercial experience in one or more of ADL’s three core sectors of energy, buildings, and transportation
● A self-starter who is highly motivated and responsive, and thrives under limited guidance in uncertain situations
● Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and one or more CRM tools.
● Demonstrated passion for effecting innovative, sustainable and equitable evolutions in the energy, transportation, and buildings sectors
