LaBella is currently seeking a Utility Permitting Specialist for our Environmental Division in our Utility Program Management Department. This Permitting Specialist would ideally become an embedded LaBella employee within Central Maine Power’s (CMP) permitting group and become proficient managing a portfolio of CMP’s permitting efforts. The proper candidate should be self-sufficient, have experience managing and proposing projects, working directly with clients, maintaining client relationships, and be comfortable managing/mentoring junior staff. Hybrid (home/office) work schedules are available for this position. The hybrid schedule generally would require three (3) days in the field or client’s office with two (2) days remote.

Responsibilities:

• Manage environmental permitting efforts on large and small-scale utility projects.

• Work with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies throughout the permitting process.

• Maintain status with each project and report effectively to the project team in a timely manner.

• Review environmental regulatory correspondence, subcontractor reports and permit applications.

• Conduct and review stream/wetland delineation(s) following the USACE guidance.

• Conduct Vernal Pool Surveys in accordance with Maine NRPA guidelines.

• Maintain, manage, and expand client relationships across our footprint.

• Identify and pursue project opportunities.

• Prepare proposals and project budgets.

• Manage and mentor junior level staff.

Requirements

• Minimum BS in Environmental, Ecology, Biology or related science.

• 2 to 5 years of experience in delineation, permitting, jurisdictional determinations, etc. of freshwater wetlands and streams. Other relatable experience will be considered.

• Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations as it related to wetlands, stream and protected species.

• Familiarity with Maine Erosion and Sediment Control, Best Management Practices.

• Ability to review, edit, and provide QA/QC for deliverables.

• Experience cost estimating and proposing projects.

• Must be self-sufficient and self-motivated.

• Some travel within New England required.

• Must be comfortable being a firm representative (i.e. maintain, pursue, and establish client business relationships)

• Salary commensurate with experience.

• Fast-paced environmental consulting/engineering practice.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
