What You Will Do
As an Insurance Verification Specialist (IVS), you serve as the primary role responsible for loading and verifying patient insurances.
The Opportunity
- Conduct eligibility and verification of benefits for all scheduled patients prior to appointments utilizing Athena, portals and phone calls.
- Route a patient case to the Insurance Coordinator team when referrals are needed based upon eligibility and third-party guidance provided in findings.
- Establish and utilize portals for verification and policy details.
- Maintain eligibility and verification 3 days out using the eligibility and phone list report
- Run daily Medicaid audits on primary and secondary policies.
- Maintain eligibility and verification for add-ons and daily encounters.
- Ensure subscriber details and copays are entered correctly.
- Support the front office team with insurance verification issues at check in.
- Support Patient Services Coordinators and Medical Records with ensuring correct policies are loaded for new patients and established patients providing new insurance when scheduling.
- Manage ‘missing insurance bucket’.
- Manage ‘eligibility issue bucket’.
- Collaborate with Lab team on updating orders with new insurance.
- Collaborate with the Insurance Coordinator team for patients who present without insurance.
- Collaborate with the Insurance Coordinator team for policies that require a referral.
- Collaborate with the Insurance Coordinator team for Coordination of Benefit issues.
- Collaborate with the billing team to facilitate patient billing questions.
- Upload/verify new insurances submitted by patients through the Patient Portal.
- Review policy alerts and dismiss/update as appropriate
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of related experience
- Minimum High school or GED required
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance is required.
