Full Job Description

The mission of Vanderburgh County CASA is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy in the community and to serve as a child’s voice in court. Vanderburgh County CASA works to establish a safe living environment for abused and neglected children in the community, by providing them with the tools and opportunities to thrive.

Vanderburgh County CASA is seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the agency and all aspects of the agency’s operations. This primarily involves the supervision and coordination of a volunteer service program, which provides CASA services to abused and neglected children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resource development and maintenance
  • Fiscal management including but not limited to day-to-day operations, fundraising and grant writing, agency budget and long-term funding plans.
  • Personnel management
  • Agency and program planning
  • Community and public relations
    • Coordinate public relations with the purpose of recruiting volunteers and increasing public awareness of the CASA program and its goals and activities
    • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, grantors, and government agencies including the state CASA office
  • Ensures agency compliance with the state and national CASA regulations.
  • Chief administrative responsibility for public accountability of the agency and ensures that legal obligations are met.
  • Agency liaison to the Board of Directors
    • Participate in policy formation with the Board.
    • Serve as staff representative on the Board.
    • Implement policies approved by the Board.
  • Performance of other duties deemed necessary or requested by the Board of Directors

Requirements

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, social work, psychology or other related areas
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in administration of volunteer, nonprofit, or public service agency
  • Prior supervisory and recruiting experience with both volunteers and employees
  • Strong skills in fiscal management, resource development and maintenance, agency and program planning, public relations, and public speaking
