About Us: We are seeking a talented Controls Engineer to join our team in Fort Wayne, IN. We offer a competitive salary, an annual bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. As a Controls Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, programming, and maintaining control systems in our manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities:
- Design, specify, procure, program, install, and maintain all control systems for our Fort Wayne manufacturing facility.
- Ensure that control systems comply with company and site standards, including safety reviews and Management of Change. Write PLC/HMI programs for equipment installations and modifications, and support the replacement of obsolete components.
- Assist in developing and executing the 5-year plan for capital improvements to control and data collection systems. Prioritize improvement projects, select equipment and contractors, oversee all activities, and authorize payments for completed work.
- Support the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Industrial Automation master plan.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and implement control and communication systems for all capital projects in the plant. Develop and install new safety devices to enhance operator and machine safety.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to identify control skills gaps and provide training for Maintenance Department employees.
- Troubleshoot and support PLC, HMI, Machine Controls, and MES systems as necessary, ensuring 24/7 functionality.
- Assist in the startup and debugging of MES and PLC/HMI changes.
- Provide ongoing training and documentation for engineers and maintenance technicians.
- Update existing control systems and devices to meet MES requirements. Select and install instrumentation that enables MES data collection.
- Contribute to the design of databases, reports, and user interfaces to support MES user needs.

Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or applicable Engineering Technology.
- Experience in programming PLCs and interfacing with industrial controls.
- Knowledge of control systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Inductive Automation, Wonderware, WinCC, and SQL Databases.
- Proficiency in programming languages, including Python.
- Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 10%).
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Manufacturing experience.
- Project management experience.
