Position Summary:The Controller will be a key member of the accounting staff reporting directly to the Vice President of Accounting and working with the head of each department. Their major focus of responsibilities will be overseeing financial reporting, budget to actual reconciliations, invoice processing, corporate account management, overseeing staff accountants, managing pre-development funding, overseeing pre-development budgeting, and managing the consolidation of 2 integrated companies. This position will play a vital role in the overall success of our company. The candidate will need to be a team-oriented, collaborative, detailed individual working within the accounting, development, design, construction and property management departments to ask the right questions, self-motivated, solve problems and provide accurate and timely information to all parties.  This position will also be responsible for overseeing our company’s growth strategy and working on processes to handle the our portfolio.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consolidate and allocate between our corporate entities
  • Complete Monthly Financial Reporting
  • Track and oversee invoice processing on our portfolio
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations
  • Monitor and record Payroll across all of our entities
  • Review Bank Reconciliation
  • Monitor Financial Activity
  • Monitor Pre-Development budgets and actual costs
  • Work with the heads of every department
  • Provided support to the Executive Team and all VPs
  • Assist with operations management
  • Do whatever it takes to continuously improve and streamline processes as appropriate
  • Document workflows and best practices
  • Prepare and maintain audit schedules

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller
  • Experience with consolidated financial statements
  • Experience with budgeting and monitoring

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

The duties of this position are usually performed in an outdoor setting.  The employee may be exposed to fluctuating outdoor temperatures and other weather conditions while moving from one location to another.  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, sit, or use hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
