Full Job Description
The Operations Support Manager is essential to our team, overseeing operational support for fleet operations (excluding dispatch and freight). This role involves managing driver relationships, coaching and developing drivers, and contributing to fleet growth strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and emotional intelligence, work closely with the EVP and key stakeholders, and strengthen connections with our international team while ensuring smooth interdepartmental operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage driver relationships and act as a point of contact for driver inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
- Coach and develop drivers to ensure high performance, adherence to safety protocols, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in developing and implementing the growth strategy for the fleet, including driver recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Connect the maintenance team to the fleet, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Foster interdepartmental relations by collaborating with various teams such as dispatchers, freight, and maintenance.
- Assist the EVP with business operations, including strategic planning, budgeting, and performance analysis.
- Maintain strong connections and communication with our international team, understanding cultural nuances and adapting communication strategies accordingly.
- Monitor operational metrics and provide regular reports to management, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and optimize operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, streamline operations, and enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- Willingness to work full-time at our new Bridgeview, IL terminal
- Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in operations management, preferably within the trucking or logistics industry.
- Strong knowledge of fleet operations, driver management, and maintenance processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse and international teams.
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with drivers and the international team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for fleet management and operational reporting.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and work outside regular office hours, if required.
