The Staff Accountant will perform a wide variety of accounting duties including maintaining financial records, ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded, ensuring the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts, and reconciling subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. In addition, this position will monitor Accounts Payable, reconcile checking accounts, handle cash management functions, and compile financial data to aid the Accounting Manager in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintain GAAP and statutory fixed asset ledgers.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies regarding purchase orders, check requests, and company credit cards.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations, which include accounting for all incoming and outgoing cash from multiple financial sources.
- Prepare supporting documentation for audits and interact with external auditors as needed.
- Perform ad hoc analysis of accounting transactions, operational performance and balance sheet accounts.
- Oversee and complete internal audits as assigned.
- Recommend and implement improvements, adaptations, or revisions in accounting systems and procedures
- Demonstrates a commitment to the organization’s core values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- 1-3 years’ experience in accounting/bookkeeping, or associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their proper application.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Sitting/standing (alternatively) continuously.
- Keyboard use/repetitive hand motion.
- Strong comprehension, organization, reasoning, decision-making, and communication skills with significant impact on the department and organization’s credibility, operations, and service
