Behavioral Health Solutions is a leading provider of comprehensive behavioral health services for adult and geriatric patients across various healthcare settings. We are dedicated to delivering cutting-edge psychiatric services and fostering a collaborative culture with hands-on leadership. BHS is currently seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) licensed in Idaho to join our team in the role of Lead Nurse Practitioner.
Responsibilities: Leadership and Training
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to fellow Nurse Practitioners (NPs) within our Idaho practice.
- Conduct orientation and training sessions for newly onboarded NPs.
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of other NPs and offer support when necessary.
- Participate in the hiring process, manage personnel decisions, and handle disciplinary actions for NPs.
- Participate in Gradual Dose Reduction meetings to evaluate the use of psychotropic drugs and ensure proper utilization with nursing home patients.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial psychiatric assessments on new patients to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Prescribe medications and formulate treatment plans for patients with mental health disorders.
- Administer ongoing medication management, closely monitoring and adjusting dosages as required.
- Provide patient education and counseling to enhance mental health understanding and assist patients and families in coping with mental health challenges.
- Collaborate closely with other mental health professionals and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation for all patient interactions to meet regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular assessments of patient progress and adapt treatment plans as needed.
- Perform cognitive assessments and develop associated care plans.
- Conduct capacity evaluations.
Facility and Staff Management:
- Cultivate and manage strong relationships with facilities and their staff to ensure the seamless delivery of services.
- Offer coverage during the absence of other NPs to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
- Consult on complex cases to uphold the highest standards of care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Hold a Master's degree in nursing with a specialization in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
- Possess certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Maintain an active, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Idaho.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex medical information to patients and their families.
- Exhibit the capability to work independently while fostering effective collaboration with fellow healthcare providers.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years experience as a practicing Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Be willing to travel to various facilities throughout the region.
Skills
- Proficient in basic computer usage.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR Systems, (experience in AthenaOne considered a plus).
