Veterinary Technician - Radiation Oncology

Fetch Veterinary is a leading veterinary hospital dedicated to providing excellent care to pets in our community. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Radiation Oncology department. As a Veterinary Technician in Radiation Oncology, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to pets undergoing radiation treatment for cancer.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians during radiation therapy sessions, including setting up and operating equipment
• Handle and restrain pets during procedures and treatments
• Administer sedation and induce anesthesia
• Monitor sedated and anesthetized patients
• Prepare, calculate and administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians
• Monitor patients and document their vital signs and response to treatment
• Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as imaging studies and laboratory work
• Maintain and update patient records
• Provide compassionate care and support to pets and their owners
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the Radiation Oncology department

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Veterinary Technician is preferred
• Previous experience working in a Radiation Oncology or Oncology department is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures and techniques
• Proficient in anesthesia and sedation monitoring
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience with radiation therapy equipment is a plus
