MAKERSPACE TECHNICIAN
The Makerspace Technician will serve as the primary point of contact for the makerspace, providing instruction in makerspace resources, creating engaging activities and training opportunities, and overseeing the daily workflow of the makerspace.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop educational programs for a variety of technology and skill-levels
- Provide training and instruction for staff and patrons in the use of the makerspace’s resources
- Manage the daily workflow of patrons and programming using effective scheduling, planning and communication
- Create effective procedures for the makerspace to make it a pleasure to use
- Ensure proper use of makerspace equipment and technology
- Monitor and report all issues – keep Manager informed
- Assist with promotion and outreach for the makerspace
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required. Bachelor degree preferred.
- Two years of experience with makerspace technology, technology instruction or other creative-based work
- Strong writing, presentation, and public speaking skills
- Excellent instructional and customer service skills
- Familiarity with tools and equipment associated with a makerspace:
- Sound recording – equipment and software
- 3D printing – programming and managing
- Electronics and robotics
- Sewing
- Graphic design software – Creative Cloud and free web-based
- Video and photography
- Virtual reality
- Apple technology, include iMacs and iPads
- Ability to exercise independent judgement within organizational and legal frameworks
- Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations
