As the Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for the accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R) processes and related customer service. In addition, the Specialist assists with monthly and year-end closing processes and the budget and forecast processes.  

How you will Contribute:

  • Processes and verifies accuracy of vendor invoices, employee/volunteer expense reports, and generates payments in accordance with organizational policies. 
  • Processes and reconciles invoices, processes incoming payments for deposit and records all types of payments (i.e. checks, charge cards, and wires) 
  • Coordinates integration of sales revenue activity with general ledger and ensures accurate revenue recognition. 
  • Assists with monthly and year-end closing process, and with annual budget and forecast processes, as directed. 
  • Responds to vendor inquiries relating to open/unpaid invoices. Assists staff with expense detail or other accounts payables related questions. 
  • Responds to customer and staff inquiries relating to invoices and payment receipts. 
  • Looks for opportunities to improve processes and assists with development of training programs. 
  • Maintains W9 forms for issuance of 1099-Misc forms. 
  • Prepares schedules for auditors and provides auditors with requested information and documentation. 
  • Executes special projects and conducts research. 
  • Performs duties in accordance with AACSB International’s Mission and Values. 

Requirements

  • Fluency in English language 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP or IFRS. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience.
