Position Title: WaterEquity Impact Intern 

Department: Investment Management 

Location: Remote, within Washington D.C. or DMV area

Summary  

WaterEquity is seeking a Fall Intern who will support multiple WaterEquity departments including Impact, Portfolio Management, and Compliance, on key projects. These may include updating and maintaining impact datasets in Excel, supporting the creation of training documents, reviewing ESG standards, compiling and formatting unstructured data for a new business use case, and more.  

The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter, who is passionate about WaterEquity’s mission. This position offers the opportunity to work across different teams at WaterEquity and the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas within the company’s work.   

Job Responsibilities  

Projects may include: 

  • Review and summarize information about impact and ESG standards 
  • Support updates to impact and ESG rating tools in Excel 
  • Support the team's transition to new data management platforms 
  • Support the development and formatting of training documents

Skills and Qualifications 

A successful candidate will be a motivated individual looking to grow their knowledge of impact investing and ESG while improving their data skills. They will be comfortable working independently while supporting a number of teams at WaterEquity. They will be organized and skilled at managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously. The following qualifications are necessary: 

  • Have a bachelor’s degree and working towards a master's degree in economics, business, international affairs, public policy, sustainability, etc. 
  • Experience working with an impact investment firm, fund manager, or international development organization preferred but not required 
  • Interest in impact measurement and management, ESG, impact investment, international development, climate sustainability and resilience 
  • Highly proficient in Excel 
  • Experience working with large datasets  
  • Familiarity with impact principles and frameworks preferred, such as the SDGs, IRIS, the IFC Performance Standards, etc. 
  • An effective team player with the ability to work alone and partner with people of all levels across multiple global locations  
  • Organized and detail oriented 
  • Comfortable working remotely and independently 
  • Skilled at multitasking and/or managing multiple requests/projects at once 

Physical Requirements  

This role involves extended periods of sitting and reaching. This role requires the ability to see, talk, and hear.  

Compensation and Benefits 

This is a paid internship.  Candidates must be able to commit to 10-15 hours per week during the fall semester. Expected salary range is $17.50 USD per hour.  

 No relocation benefits or visa sponsorship will be offered.
