 In support of these objectives, RP is recruiting a Translation and Customer Experience Specialist to support the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Bureau for Management's Office of Acquisition and Assistance (M/OAA). This position sits within the M/OAA Communications team, which is also designated as the Agency’s Industry Liaison. The Industry Liaison offers an open door to organizations that want to connect with the Agency.  The team manages the WorkwithUSAID.gov platform and a variety of different social media accounts. Over the past year, WorkwithUSAID.gov has expanded to include content in French, Spanish, and Arabic and will soon be launching the site in Portuguese.

The individual will help to oversee WorkwithUSAID.gov’s translations, with a focus on enhancing the Agency’s customer experience for non-native English speakers.

The position’s duties shall include, but not be limited to: 

  • Manage translation and interpretation requests and activities, with support from a translation vendor.
  • Support the enhancement of customer experience in languages other than English for the WorkwithUSAID.gov platform.
  • Support the management and improvement of a translation management system (TMS) for WorkwithUSAID.gov.
  • Assist with the management, creation, and quality control of WorkwithUSAID.gov content.
  • Assist in drafting and editing written materials, including talking points, blogs, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders in other languages. 
  • Research, develop, and coordinate social media in other languages across the Work with USAID social media channels.  
  • Support the development and execution of the Industry Liaison Communications and Engagement Strategy.
  • Attend meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and brief the Industry Liaison on M/OAA-related meetings. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the M/OAA Communication Director or by the Director of M/OAA, including special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to obtain a USAID Facilities Access Clearance
  • Must be a U.S citizen
  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of professional relevant work experience or master's degree and three years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:

  • Proficiency in other languages (native speaker level), such as Arabic, French, Portuguese, or Spanish, is strongly desired.
  • Experience with TMSs, such as Trados or CrowdIn, is required.
  • Experience with neural machine translation (NMT), such as Microsoft’s Azure AI Translator, DeepL, Google Translate, etc., is required.
  • Outstanding proofreading and editing capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Understanding of social networking tools. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, and work independently. 
  • Experience with graphic design tools (like Canva, and Adobe tools) is strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (Strapi, WordPress, etc.) is strongly desired.
