ARETUM, a leading government contracting company specializing in technology-enabled mission support services, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior FOIA Specialist (Attorney) to join our team. As a Senior FOIA Specialist (Attorney) at ARETUM, you will play a critical role in supporting the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program and ensuring compliance with FOIA regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities
- Providing legal advice and guidance regarding FOIA regulations, policies, and procedures
- Reviewing and analyzing complex FOIA requests to determine eligibility for processing
- Conducting legal research and analysis to identify responsive records and exemptions
- Preparing legal responses to FOIA requests, including drafting appeal packages for legal sufficiency review
- Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to gather and provide requested information
- Maintaining accurate records of FOIA requests, responses, and related legal activities
- Keeping up-to-date with changes and updates to FOIA laws, regulations, and case law
- Providing training and guidance to junior staff on FOIA legal matters
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a FOIA Specialist (Attorney), preferably in a government contracting or federal agency environment
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- Strong knowledge of FOIA laws, regulations, and case law
- Experience reviewing and analyzing complex FOIA requests and exemptions
- Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal responses
- Attention to detail and accuracy in legal work
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Familiarity with FOIA tracking systems and databases
- Strong organizational and time management skills
