We have an opening for a full-time Senior Network Engineer - Enterprise WAN to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer.

The Senior Network Engineer - Enterprise WAN will help lead a dynamic and exciting cybersecurity program for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). You will be required to work onsite at a Washington, DC or Martinsburg, WV Federal Government customer location.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Network Engineer - Enterprise WAN supporting Maveris programs, you will be trusted to support the delivery of our IT products and services. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Performing systematic troubleshooting of complex technical problems.
  • Running and analyzing packet captures using Wireshark, tcpdump, or other equivalent clients.
  • Providing subject matter expertise in the theory and operations of a wide variety of protocols and technologies (e.g., IP, TCP, UDP, Ethernet, PKI, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS GRE IPSec routing protocols MPLS etc.).
  • Make architecture recommendations to support the growing needs of the customer based on new application deployments.
  • Provide recommendations for enterprise compatibility in the network design lab.
  • Provide on-call escalation support if an issue arises that cannot be rectified by the network operations team.
  • Write white papers on new technology and how it will help support the mission of the customer.
  • Use existing Network Management tools to provide capacity management/utilization reports.
  • Designing, architecture, and implementing medium to large sized networks including the deployment of technologies in these networks.
  • Deploying IPv6 in an enterprise environment.
  • Limited travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Occasional on call or working outside regular working hours (evenings and weekends).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field preferred.
  • 5 years applicable experience in enterprise network environments.
  • 1 year with packet capture analysis.
  • Significant Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) experience in large, multi-site networks.
  • Strong SD WAN experience (Fortinet, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
  • Sound knowledge or background with OSPF and EIGRP.
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience encrypting an enterprise network backbone. (DMVPN or GetVPN preferred)
  • Understanding of Capacity Planning / Management techniques and processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of carrier circuits to include, but not limited to OC3, DS3, T1, and Ethernet Transport Services.
  • Knowledgeable with MPLS-VPN carrier offerings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Network management and application analysis tools (LiveAction, NetScout, SolarWinds, Riverbed and OpNet experience preferred).
  • Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP stack.
  • Experience in an enterprise environment involving network design, architecture, management and troubleshooting.
  • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher are preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
  • Duties may require traveling, being on call periodically, and occasionally working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Experience with router and switch administration (Cisco experience preferred).
  • Ability to work across multiple projects; provide written/verbal status updates on each project on a regular basis to the team lead, Program Manager and customer.
  • Ability to interact with executive level staff.
  • Desire to learn innovative technologies and methods of data/voice communications.
