Full Job Description
The Senior Network Engineer will be provide R&D support for the development of a Next-Generation High-Performance Computing (HPC) network architecture system and the tools/protocols for the management of emerging high-performance networks. The Senior Network engineer will be responsible for Tier2/Tier 3 level support, providing network solutions, scaling capability, as well as the installation and configuration of Cisco network devices, routers, hubs, and switches. The Network Engineer will work within a research environment, testing models for robustness against unpredictable and high traffic loads, both real and simulated, to advance the Customer's mission and interests within national security.
The work will be located in the National Capital Region.
Responsibilities:
8+ Experience providing Tier 2/ Tier 3 network layering support for an enterprise network architecture system.
5+ Experience as team lead for network service provisioning with Apache, remote dial-in,
sendmail, BIND, ssh, and DNS.
3+ years experience in the integration and use of vulnerability analysis tools (e.g.
Nmap, Tenable, Nessus, Tripwire, Wireshark, etc).
3+ years experience in configuration, installation and use of Intrusion Detection
Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Protection Systems (IPS).
Experience configuring 100/1000/10000/100000 Ethernet devices, SONET network fabrics ranging from Optical Carrier (OC) 3c to OC 768c link speeds and higher, and InfiniBand data links from 4x/12x
Configuring and trouble-shooting Boarder Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), VPN, IPSec, Ethernet, and ATM.
Expertise required for daily use of UNIX to include but not limited to Red Hat, Suse, Rocky.
Integrating wireless service in fixed IT infrastructures.
Preparing and maintaining network configuration control, standard operating procedures and planning documentation.
Requirements:
8+ yoe managing network infrastructure at the enterprise level.
Clearance: Final DoD granted Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
Education: Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, or related field
