Security Automation Developer

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Security Automation Developer to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer.  

In this role, you will play a key part in designing, implementing, and maintaining automation scripts within a Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platform to enhance the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) incident response capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of scripting languages and automation frameworks.

Candidates must live within commuting distance to Martinsburg, WV, as up to 80% telework is permitted.

Duties

• Implement custom playbooks, workflows, and integrations to optimize incident response activities.  
• Integrate the SOAR platform with various security tools, SIEM solutions, and third-party applications to create a cohesive and automated security ecosystem.  
• Develop and maintain scripts and automation workflows using languages such as Python, PowerShell, etc.  
• Create reusable automation components to improve efficiency and response times.  
• Work closely with incident response teams to understand their workflow requirements and implement SOAR solutions that enhance the speed and accuracy of response activities.  
• Conduct regular assessments to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.  
• Provide comprehensive documentation for playbooks, integrations, and automation workflows.  
• Foster a culture of self-service and empowerment within the cybersecurity team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• Proven experience as an automation developer, with a focus on designing and implementing security automation solutions is preferred
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript
• Experience with SOAR platforms is preferred
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, incident response procedures, and security toolsets
• Familiarity with industry security frameworks and standards such as MITRE ATT&CK
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
