Full Job Description
LAC Federal is seeking a qualified Librarian to join our team. As a Librarian, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and research needs of our institution, which provides training to professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in library science, a passion for information management, and a commitment to serving a diverse and dynamic community of learners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides input and recommendations to Government management on information resource methodologies, processes, strategic planning and implementation.
- Conducts comprehensive reference, research, evaluative and instructional services to Information Center clientele.
- Conducts various circulation activities including registering patrons and producing user circulation cards; charging materials in and out of the Information Center; shelving materials; and training the staff on the use of the Information Center circulation software.
- Evaluates the current print and media collection and serials – and evaluates and recommends external materials and resources with a special emphasis on replacement with electronic information resources and eBooks.
Requirements
Education/Professional Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Library and Information Sciences preferred), M.L.I.S. (Master’s in Library and Information Science) from an American Library Association-accredited graduate program preferred.
- 2 years' experience in information centers or library programs or services.
- Knowledge of and experience in the use of current information technologies are essential as the Information Center operates in an electronic environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Skill in oral communication, including briefing of small groups and individuals
- Sensitive to cultural diversity with experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Preferred: knowledge of Foreign Affairs and International Relations as well as world geography (e.g., countries and capitals) and world history
