Lead Architect (15.19)
OCT Consulting, LLC is an SBA-certified, 8(a) small business management and technology consulting firm that provides support to Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change
Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.
Responsibilities and Duties
OCT currently has an opening for a Lead Architect to work with our federal client, the General Services Administration(GSA). This position is contingent upon contract award.
The Lead Architect serves as a key technical leader responsible for guiding the overall technical direction while ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable and aligned with GSA's enterprise architecture vision. The role requires both deep technical expertise and strong leadership abilities to drive adoption of modern development practices.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
● Develop unified architectures centered around delivering business capabilities using modular, scalable, loosely coupled technical capabilities and services
● Define and drive DevOps best practices within large teams
● Establish legacy modernization and migration roadmaps for large-scale applications
● Guide the technical architecture direction for cloud deployments (AWS preferred)
● Design and oversee implementation of service-oriented, micro-service, and API- based architectures at enterprise scale
● Lead the design of event-driven applications using queues, service bus and other related patterns
● Provide technical oversight for containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes or similar tooling
● Apply advanced programming knowledge in languages like Java, Javascript, Python, Ruby or PHP to guide implementation
● Work with Cloud Advisory (CA) and Cloud Enablement (CE) teams to evaluate and document technical requirements
● Collaborate on market research to identify and recommend cloud native and open source tools
● Support technical planning activities to further automate, enable and facilitate processes and workflows
● Help coordinate organizational strategy and system modernization roadmaps
● Provide technical direction and mentoring to development teams
● Review and approve technical designs and implementation approaches
● Guide teams in implementing SecDevOps practices and cloud deployment patterns
● Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non- technical stakeholders
● Support development of target state vision aligned with mission, business and technical perspectives
● Ensure alignment with long-term enterprise strategies and integration with other enterprise components
● Help define modernization strategy for various IT services
● Maintain awareness of and provide guidance on new technology trends and opportunities
Requirements
Requirements:
● 8+ years’ experience in one or more architecture domains (e.g. business architecture, solutions architecture, application architecture)
● Advanced knowledge and experience in one or more current programming languages (E.g. - Java, Javascript (including AngularJS), Python, Ruby or PHP)
● Experience defining the architecture of cloud-deployed applications (AWS preferred)
● Experience with containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, or other similar tooling
● Experience defining and driving SecDevOps best practices within large teams
● Experience establishing legacy modernization and migration roadmaps for large-scale applications
● Experience building applications using service-oriented, microservice, and/or API-based architectures at an enterprise scale
● Experience with event-driven applications using queues, service bus and other related patterns
● Ability to work with limited direction
● Ability to interface with senior levels of management.
● Ability to recommend improvements to current and future team operations and processes.
● Ability to research, gather, and synthesize data.
● Ability to present conclusions and recommendations to management.
● Ability to prepare summaries, analyses, reports, charts, graphs, instructions, memoranda, and manuals/reference materials for benchmarking purposes or for inclusion in required and ad hoc reports.
● Ability to plan/organize work.
● Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
● Must be able to perform in a hybrid office environment at the discretion of the client (working on-site as requested while maintaining the equipment necessary/provided for remote work).
● Must be a US Citizen.
● Must be able to obtain or retain a Public Trust clearance; the security screening process may involve a credit, fingerprint, and law enforcement agency check

Salary Range: $120,000-150,000 per year commensurate with experience, education, etc.
