ARETUM, a leading government contracting company specializing in technology-enabled mission support services, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. As a Technical Writer at ARETUM, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality documentation for our government clients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content for internal and external communications documents such as emails, newsletters, bulletins, PPT decks, graphics, and other products
  • Review, edit, and improve technical documents such as standing operating procedures (SOPs), fact sheets, contract documentation, SharePoint site content, website content, briefing decks, white papers, infographics, and technical publications and messaging to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences on a variety of cybersecurity related topics
  • Edit for content and flow, reviewing structure for clarity and accuracy, checking and rechecking for spelling and grammatical errors, and adhering to guidelines for all types of material to include written and multimedia formats
  • Develop and/or follow client style guides and associated quality standards for document production, and understand client requirements related to writing task assignments
  • Work with subject matter experts, clients, and stakeholders to collect data for developing and maintaining products and documentation
  • Suggest graphics, illustrations, and charts to product authors to better illustrate written concepts and support development of such items
  • Assist stakeholders with developing and reviewing presentations and graphics that are consistent with approved style guides and standards
  • Develop and provide stakeholders with editing/writing training resources such as quality assurance checklists, document templates, etc.
  • Write and edit messaging and content for internal and external program communications
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for editing process and approvals
  • Contribute recommendations for editing best practices for other writers/editors on the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Writing, or a related field
  • 3-10 years of professional experience in editing and writing (preferably in an information technology [IT] or other technical/scientific field)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for following checklists and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
  • Excellent research, data gathering, analytical, critical thinking, and listening skills
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, adhere to project plans, ensure any conflicts are brought to the attention of the management team, and multi-task on several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes in project scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Ability to interact, collaborate, and network effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client site
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government public trust or clearance
  • Existing DHS or FEMA Entry on Duty suitability (preferred)
  • Experience in federal government consulting
  • Familiarity with Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/FEMA programs or initiatives
