Full Job Description
ARETUM, a leading government contracting company specializing in technology-enabled mission support services, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated FOIA Specialist (Attorney) to join our team. As a FOIA Specialist (Attorney) at ARETUM, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program and ensuring compliance with FOIA regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities
- Reviewing and processing FOIA requests in accordance with agency policies and procedures
- Conducting legal research and analysis to identify responsive records
- Preparing legal responses to FOIA requests, including redacting sensitive information
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to gather and provide requested information
- Maintaining accurate records of FOIA requests and responses
- Keeping up-to-date with changes and updates to FOIA policies and procedures
Requirements
- Two years of prior FOIA experience as an Attorney; Ability to process FOIA requests from cradle-to-grave
- Experience reviewing large record sets and applying redactions to responsive records in accordance with the FOIA, USDA’s FOIA regulations, and any applicable case law
- Drafting legal correspondence
- Managing FOIA admin files in accordance with office SOPs
- Proficiency with USDA’s commonly used confidentiality statutes
- Preparing FOIA appeal packages for legal sufficiency review.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required
- Admission to a State Bar
