Total Care Services, Inc. has been serving residents of the District of Columbia since 2003. Our DC services and supports help people with disabilities of all ages. Our aim is to empower them to live the life they want - at home, in the community, and at work. We provide home and community-based support and services through the Department of Disability Services (DDS), Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA). We also provide respite services through Health Services for Children with Special Needs (HSCSN).
A Direct Support Professional/ Trained Medication Employees provides (DSP/TMEs) “person-centered” care, support and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Total Care Services has DSP openings in the departments of Residential Habilitation, Supported Living, Respite and Host Home residential services and Day Program Services. Direct Support Professionals provide care based upon the individual’s ISP (Individual Support Plan) and plan of care which determine the specific needs, goals and choices of the person being served. At this time, Total Care Services has openings for givers to serve specific individuals who have requested their care be given by CNA's, GNA,s HHA's TME's, Medial Assistants, preferred (compensation TBD based on qualifications).
Compensation Package:
- Hourly Rate - $18.70 to $19.70
We are searching for Direct Support Professional/ Trained Medication Employees who are:
- Passionate about supporting our clients and their families.
- Flexibility as you may be assigned to different locations throughout the District of Columbia.
- Dependable – you are responsible for the safety of the clients we serve.
- Communication skills – must be able to read and write in English.
- Technologically savvy.
- Engaging Personality with the ability to engage with a diverse population.
What You Do:
- The DSP/TMEs must be flexible as they may need to work in different locations and be flexible in performing their duties and work assignments, based upon the needs of the persons served:
- Ensure the overall health, safety and well-being of all the Individuals served. For example: assess the Individuals for injuries, signs of declining health and/or behavioral changes.
- Assist the Individuals with their activities of daily living (ADL’s)
- Assist and supervise the Individuals with shopping for food, clothing, and household supplies.
- Assist and supervise the Individuals with meal preparation and laundry.
- Assist and supervise the Individuals with grooming (bathing, tooth brushing, etc.)
- Attend and complete all mandatory training (BSP, CPR/First Aid, DDS.)
- Policies, and core competencies.
- DSP/TMEs have the responsibilities of medication administration.
- DSP/TMEs will administer medications under the direction of an RN.
- Attend religious, social and recreational activities with the Individuals.
- Attend a variety of activities and or events of the Individuals choosing.
- Safeguard and maintain records of the Individual’s while in the home.
- Report all incidents and complete all incident reports in a timely fashion.
- Report any necessary repairs or maintenance issues to the Home Coordinator.
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitization of the Individuals entire home on a daily basis.
- Comply with DDS regulations and all Total Care Services, Inc. policies including never leaving an individual alone unless prior alone time is authorized through DDS.
Work Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 11:00am-4:00pm

- Trained Medication Employee Certification
- Must be fully vaccinated and pass all pre-employment qualifications.
