We are looking to immediately hire a Senior Consultant with experience in federal financial management to join our growing team in the public sector. In this role, you will support, contribute to and/or lead projects for customers in federal, state and local governments, helping them with their mission objectives. You will have an opportunity to work with senior government leaders, and on high profile projects and engagements.
How Your Work Will Create an Impact
You will play a key role in helping public sector organizations solve their most complex problems; identify key business questions and hypotheses and deliver insights and recommendations to inform key government-wide policies and decisions.
Your work will support the financial assessment of accurate grant accrual estimates to ensure accuracy of liabilities and federal financial agency reports. In addition, using data and analysis, you will validate the accrual estimates on an ongoing basis – making changes as necessary to the grant accrual methodology.
What You Will Do
Consultants will contribute to client engagements by leading problem solving and data analysis, developing deliverables, delivering client presentations, and managing client relationships – becoming a trusted advisor and client champion. Consultants will also work closely with the senior leadership team on business development and firm strategy to support growth.
Roles and Responsibilities include the following:
- Develop estimated accrual for grant liabilities and expenditures for U.S. Federal agencies to support financial reporting;
- Calculate monthly grant accrual estimates and prepare adjusting journal entries to be recorded in the general ledger for each appropriation account for financial statements;
- Validate Grant Accrual Methodology;
- Perform a look-back analysis on a quarterly basis, utilizing the expenditure information from financial reports and other sources; conduct research on variances and their causes;
- Perform quarterly financial statements fluctuation (flux) analysis; support preparation of ad-hoc financial reports; conduct research on other financial accounting issues and federal-wide trends and best practice.
- Support financial audits and reviews relating to grants accrual, including developing corrective action plans – if needed.
Client Engagement: identify key business questions to deliver insights to decision-makers; engage with project tea(s) and customers to ensure client satisfaction; serve as a trusted advisor to clients; act as a champion for the customer.
Requirements
- Consultant: 3+ years’ experience in Federal Financial management, Federal accounting standards, Federal financial statement and Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) compilation and presentation, financial data analysis, and audit presentation.
- Preferred: Working knowledge of Oracle Federal Financial system, Oracle database, and supporting Oracle management, report writing, and query tools strongly recommended. Individual must demonstrate extensive knowledge of the United States Standard General Ledger, Treasury Financial Management Service guidance, Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board directives and OMB publications relating to budget, accounting and reporting
- Knowledge and experience in grants accrual and analysis, and federal financial management & reporting
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and Management.
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA); Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) is a plus
- Financial and Accounting Skills: Knowledge and experience in Grants Accrual and Analysis, Lookback and variance analysis, federal financial management and reporting, financial statement fluctuation; federal accounting and grants management – preferred
- Very strong attention to detail; Solid analytical skills - Knowledge and experience in data analysis tools and techniques is a plus;
- Strong leadership, communication (oral and written), logic, innovation, and collaboration skills
- Strong interpersonal writing and editing skills
- Must be eligible to work in the US and obtain a security clearance
