Job Summary:

The Permit Coordinator is responsible for managing the permitting process for civil engineers and reports completed within DrBalcony. This role involves working closely with local agencies and our engineering team that all necessary permits are obtained in a timely manner. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of building codes, zoning laws, and the permit application process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Permit Management: Oversee the entire permit application process, ensuring all required documentation is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Coordination with Authorities: Liaise with local permit offices and government agencies to track the status of applications and respond to any inquiries.
  • Documentation Maintenance: Maintain organized records of all permit applications, correspondence, and approvals for easy access and reference.
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure that permitting requirements align with project timelines and specifications.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all projects adhere to relevant building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.
  • Research Regulations: Stay up to date on changes to local and state regulations that may affect permitting processes.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve issues related to permits or inspections in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in a permit coordination role or similar, preferably in the civil engineering industry.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and the permitting process.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, authorities, and team members.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and resolve issues proactively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
