Full Job Description

About The Role

We’re looking for a Lead Product Manager who lives and breathes data-based product thinking, to turn our reading assessments into gamified experiences that kids love, and orienting our company towards using metrics to find insights about the product and the learner.

In this role, you will actively define and deliver features, processes, and optimizations that help us innovate literacy solutions for learners from underserved demographics. You will be responsible for on-time delivery and release that is in-line with the organization’s short- and long-term product goals. Working alongside researchers and curriculum experts, you will be the product driver for using data, assessments, and testing to build the best possible learning experience overall, and also personally for each individual learner. You will help identify user pain points and value-creation opportunities and be the executional driver amongst a cross-functional team of design, engineering, research, and content.

👉 You’ll focus on:

  • Growing our assessments into compelling gamified experiences for students across the nation by partnering with scientists at ROAR Stanford
  • Translating the learners’ scores into powerful and actionable insights for Teachers and Educators
  • Helping us build out our internal data analytics and reporting tools
  • Managing compliance for our log in and data collection experiences

Your work will be pivotal to shaping how Magpie Literacy achieves and scales learner impact through contextually relevant instruction that is loved by Learners, Parents, and Educators.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive product features through their entire creative cycle: ideation, specification, development, release, analysis, and iteration
  • Evaluate new product opportunities and bring forward proposals (buy, build, partner solutions) for new capabilities with data and users at the forefront
  • Coordinate cross-functional alignment on strategic initiatives for the product
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, make tradeoffs and balance the program needs, for instance user needs, against versus technical or operational constraints
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative research to discover feature ideas and validate them before development
  • Work closely with UI/UX designers to ensure an excellent user experience in our product
  • Work with engineers to help guide feature development
  • Maintain product backlog
  • Perform quantitative analysis on features’ performance and find opportunities for optimization
  • Be responsible for hitting the key performance indicators with a focus on learner growth (i.e., product efficacy or learner outcomes) as well as usual engagement, ease of adoption, user onboarding, and traction metrics.

Requirements

This Job is For You If You Have:

  • 4-5 years product management experience
  • Organized, detail-oriented team leadership with strong project management skills
  • Structured, collaborative, and clear written and oral communication skills, especially in conveying analytical concepts to cross-functional teammates with expertise in disciplines outside of traditional tech
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in design and hypothesis-driven product development
  • A track record of a strong bias for action, generating results as a PM in high performing environments, balanced with a strategy-level perspective
  • A desire to make the world a better place through technology and reading education
  • Expertise in applying user insights, data, and statistical analyses to inform decisions
  • An instinct for creating simple and intuitive user experiences
  • A track record as a voracious, curious, and active learner
  • A knack for self-starting, rolling up your sleeves to do the work, being resourceful and innovative in finding answers in an ambiguous situation.

Our Ideal Candidate has Experience in:

  • Expertise in learner assessments, decision making science, and/or consumer analytics
  • Prior product, operation, or engineering experience in K-12 Education Technology or similar
  • Technical product management experience
  • Experience leading teams through ambiguity and high stakes trade off decisions

Benefits

  • Salary range of $160,000-$170,000 per annum
  • Competitive medical, dental, vision benefits
  • Opportunity to work remotely for a mission-driven company full of change-makers
  • Enjoy the freedom of flexible time off to balance work and personal life, ensuring you stay refreshed and productive.
  • 401k with 4% guaranteed match
  • Work environment that values balance and harmony with a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Opportunity to travel and meet your team members in-person 2x per year
