As the Intern: Receiving & Inventory Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our logistics and supply chain team, facilitating the seamless and efficient transfer of materials essential for our satellite production. Your contributions will be key in maintaining precise inventory levels, managing the flow of materials, and supporting various operational needs throughout the company. You will assist with the complete inventory lifecycle—from receiving and storing to shipping—ensuring that every process adheres to our quality standards and aligns with production schedules. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of our inventory system, while your proactive approach will help in managing and mitigating any potential challenges in material handling.
This is an Intern position based in our Santa Barbara, CA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with production teams to anticipate material requirements, mitigate supply chain disruptions, and facilitate timely delivery of components.
- Adhere to industry regulations and internal policies for material storage, handling, and documentation to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
- Identify areas for improvement within inventory processes, suggest and implement solutions, and contribute to the development of new procedures that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Receive, store, and issue raw materials, parts, and hardware to support shop operations. Ensure proper storage in bins, drawers, and racks, and accurately identify parts and their locations.
- Assemble and verify kits of parts and materials as required, ensuring all components are present and accounted for.
- Monitor shelf-life and maintain appropriate rotation of stock. Prepare and present Inventory Reports to Management. Perform regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Inspect all incoming materials for conformity with accompanying paperwork, checking for damage, correct part numbers, quantities, and revisions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Other professional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly, and to stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to tasks
Desired Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of inventory control systems and warehouse operations

Pay Transparency
This job posting may cover multiple career levels. To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.
Compensation Range
The Compensation Range for this role is $20/hour - $25/hour.
