Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California, is an acute psychiatric and behavioral 90 bed facility situated on 8.8 acres.
We offer inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults needing mental/behavioral health, chemical dependency; and co-occurring disorders treatment through our medically supervised detoxification.

Job Summary
Our progressive and dedicated healthcare team strives to change the lives of our patients and provide exceptional care.
Part of that care includes detailed attention to our patient's medical records.
This position requires a lot of focus on scanning documents and assigning the scanned files to the appropriate folder in the share drive. As well as the upkeep and maintenance of all patient records.
BBHH is 100% Paper-based facility and all medical documentation/chart is completed and stored on paper.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Though we do need to meet some minimum requirements for the position such a High School Diploma or Equivalent, we're really looking for people who bring their HEART to work.
If you have previous experience in a Health Information Management Department at a hospital or similar large facility and/or have experience performing clerical functions in a mental healthcare hospital environment, then your application to this position will be immediately moved to the shortlist of candidates.
Ideally, you'll bring at least two (2) years of experience in a healthcare or similar setting.
You'll showcase strong organizational skills and be able to meet deadlines surrounding a very demanding regulatory compliance schedule.
This is a FULL-TIME position.
The perfect candidate will be able to read and understand medical terminology and have knowledgeable business correspondence and communication skills.
Experience using commercial scanning and copier equipment will be of benefit to this role.

You should have a current CPR certification when you apply or obtain certification prior to your start date.
If you don't have a current CPR certification, just let us know and we'll make sure you get it before you start -- and even cover the cost for you.
Additionally, you'll complete a "Handle-With-Care" Physical Restraint Technique Training during your orientation so that you know how and when to engage with a patient if such an event occurs.

The position is an hourly, non-exempt, overtime-eligible position with a wage starting at $21.00 for all new hires. Automatic merit increases will apply annually based on annual evaluations.
